Reasons why Auburn is the NCAA National Champion

auburn2004championseason.gif

  • Beat then-No. 5 LSU, the undefeated defending national champions.
  • Beat then-No. 10 Tennessee, in Knoxville by 24 points.
  • Beat then-No. 8 Georgia in 24-6 slaughter.
  • Beat, for a second time, the SEC West champions Tennessee in the SEC Championship.
  • Beat No. 9 Virginia Tech, a team on an eight-game winning streak, in a pressure-packed, everybody's watching bowl game.
  • Proven they are the best team in the SEC and the ACC, the NCAA's top football conferences.
  • Has the 5th best total defense in the NCAA, ahead of No. 6 USC and No. 7 Oklahoma.

Update: And the final reason...The Orange Bowl wasn't a national championship game. Oklahoma showed that they didn't deserve to be there.

In case you didn't check back with me, here's my comment I posted to yours on my blog...

Rob, I guess you are referring to Auburn? I'll check your blog but for the record... Auburn only beat VT by three and were shut down in the last 1/2 of the game. VT beat themselves bad. Auburn was not at their best last night, however I would love to see OU vs Auburn if that's what it takes. I said in my post I'm not going to predict who wins but my money (literally) is on OU.

Personally I'm ready for college playoffs to determine National Championship bragging rights.

Go Sooners! :-)

See, I did check your blog!

Oh, and you also have to look at strength of schedule as well.

There are a lot of variables and the NCAA needs to nail this down so that the final team standing is indeed the undisputed champion.
