Google for SMBs

The Google annoucement is on their blog, but MIT's Technology Review has more details in this article, Google Sets Sights on Bigger Piece of Business Software Market.

Maybe the most interesting piece of this artcile is

Google's push into the business software market hasn't made much of a dent so far.

Online advertising accounted for 98 percent of Google's $2.16 billion (euro1.64 billion) through the first nine months of 2004. Google pocketed just $35 million (euro26.6 million) from software licensing and other sources during that period.

While it has created the most widely used online search engine, Google has been playing catch up with other software makers such as Autonomy Corp. and Verity Inc. that build products for businesses trying to make it easier for employees and customers to find information on their Web sites.

On the surface, Google's strategy is clearly to attack the masses. Where's the advertising revenue in SMB search?

Reasons why Auburn is the NCAA National Champion

auburn2004championseason.gif

  • Beat then-No. 5 LSU, the undefeated defending national champions.
  • Beat then-No. 10 Tennessee, in Knoxville by 24 points.
  • Beat then-No. 8 Georgia in 24-6 slaughter.
  • Beat, for a second time, the SEC West champions Tennessee in the SEC Championship.
  • Beat No. 9 Virginia Tech, a team on an eight-game winning streak, in a pressure-packed, everybody's watching bowl game.
  • Proven they are the best team in the SEC and the ACC, the NCAA's top football conferences.
  • Has the 5th best total defense in the NCAA, ahead of No. 6 USC and No. 7 Oklahoma.

Update: And the final reason...The Orange Bowl wasn't a national championship game. Oklahoma showed that they didn't deserve to be there.

Auburn singing "Hard Fighting Soldier"

I'll thank The Sporting Life for linking to two video clips of Auburn singing "War Eagle" and "Hard Fighting Soldier."

Why "Hard Fighting Soldier?" Read about it in this Fellowship of Christian Athletes story. In addition to the team's performance, stories like these make me proud to be an Auburn Tiger. That's why I hate to see bad press. It seems that Bobby Lowder is synonymous with Auburn and stupidity.
